Anouncement Letter from the Organising Committee

Deeply moved and honored, we are pleased to share with you the most important moment for our Association to date!

The ADPCACCPTS-EE (Association for the Development of Person-Centered Approach and Child-Centered Play Therapy of South-East Europe) and the Psychosocial Studies Laboratory (PSL), both organizational members of ADPCA, have undertaken the hosting and organising of the ADPCA Conference, scheduled for summer 2026 in Greece, specifically on the beautiful and historic island of Samothrace.

Members of the PSL Organizing Committee and ADPCACCPTS-EE's Executive Committee participated in the Business Meetings of the ADPCA Conference from July 25-27, 2024. ​We attempted to share with other ADPCA members our proposal to organize the 2026 ADPCA Conference. This was a process we dreamed of and envisioned even before the founding of the Association, within the framework of the Psychosocial Studies Laboratory, to communicate this different way of relating and existing with the global PCA community.

Since 2007, through PSL, we have been conducting PCA Encounter Groups in Samothrace, and since 2017, these groups have become open in a national level. From 2020 to today, within the framework of ADPCACCPTSE-E, these Open Encounet Groups have become international, giving people from around the world the opportunity to participate in this unique and enriching experience. Now, more than ever, we are given the chance to communicate this vision through the most important organization for the Person-Centered Approach, ADPCA. ADPCA was founded in 1981 by contemporaries of Carl Rogers, the founder of the Person-Centered Approach, inspired by him and supported by him, and now it is developing with his successors. It was the first attempt, which time has shown to be successful, to promote Carl R. Rogers’ theory and practice through the creation of a network exploring his revolutionary perspective in psychotherapy, where the client knows best.

It is a great honor for us to organize this institution, which has been taking place annually in different locations since 1986. This will be the first time the conference is held in a Southeastern European country, and on the island of Samothrace! The 2026 ADPCA Conference, like all ADPCA Conferences, will be open to anyone who wishes to experience this unique way of life and relating that the Person-Centered Approach offers, as a path to deep connection and communication primarily with ourselves, but also with others.

At the same time, we hope it will be an opportunity to build bonds and exchange experiences within the Person-Centered Community of our country, Southeastern Europe, and worldwide! With the support of ADPCA members and as part of the preparations for the 2025 World Conference, which will take place in Chicago in summer 2025, the ADPCA World Conference in Samothrace will become a reality.
